Lacquered Wood Carved Collection
Our new collection brings to life the flight of the birds on their spiritual journey to find the mythical Bird of God: The Simurgh, the exuberance and joy of Poppies, and the great love of The Rose and The Nightingale. In homage to designer Mehera Blum’s late mother, Laurie Blum, Mehera reimagines her mother’s paintings Conference of the Birds, The Rose and The Nightingale, and Poppies through hand-carving and hand-painting.
Each one of a kind wood creation is hand-carved by a Balinese Mangku (priest) and hand-painted. The creation of each bags takes several weeks to hand-carve, hand-shape, and hand-paint.
